NHS launches kit so people can take their own blood at home. In June, we wrote about a kit from the NHS, Monitor My Health, which allowed people to take their own blood at home and post it back to a medical laboratory. People then receive their results digitally within 48 hours. You can choose one of six tests – diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid function, vitamin D, heart health or a full screening — with prices ranging from £24-49.

Microsoft is redesigning more than 100 of its app icons with new colours, materials and finishes. It follows a number of other icon redesigns over the past 18 months, which have included new looks for the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Edge. Filling hospitals with art reduces patient stress, anxiety and pain. This research from Chelsea and Westminster hospital showed the power of art in hospitals to make people feel better. Measures of this included improved patient wellbeing, shorter hospital stays and the reduction of anxiety, depression and pain. Evidence showed those undergoing examinations, operations and intrusive procedures such as chemotherapy had benefited from an environment displaying visual art.

International human rights charity Witness has been rebranded by Pentagram partner Harry Pearce. The new identity places a focus on collaboration and participation from a “new generation of human rights defenders” Witness was originally founded in 1992 by musician Peter Gabriel.
