The Museum of London is seeking designers to create a visual identity to match its expanded ambitions as it moves into a new site in 2024. The museum was originally opened in 1976 and is home to the London Collection, a group of over 7m objects which represent more than 10,000 years of the city’s history. Its new site at Smithfield’s former meat market hopes to be both a cultural and social destination.

Design Bridge has created a new visual identity for Hamburg beer manufacturer Holsten, which seeks to return the brand to its “honest, hardworking roots” Holsten was founded in 1879 and is now owned by the Carlsberg group. Design Bridge London creative director Mike Stride says the visual update was about bringing the beer to younger audiences. “It looked like something their dads or grandads might drink,” he says. “They wanted to add the character back into it.R

Centaur Robotics has developed an alternative to a traditional wheelchair which it hopes will drastically enhance the mobility of elderly people. The chair, named the Centaur, has been developed by the company’s design director Paul Campbell. The motivation behind the wheelchair comes from Centaur Robotic founder and chairman David Rajan. Seymourpowell has designed the new identity and packaging for fortified milk-based drink brand Nurishment, in a bid to appeal to a wider contemporary audience. Launched in 1981, the protein-rich drink was initially intended as a “handy pick-me-up” Recognisable for its ring-pull can packaging, it quickly became “corner shop favourite for neighbourhoods across the UK”, the company says.

Mother Design has updated the visual identity for Penguin’s Michael Joseph division, which seeks to give the imprint a more distinctive identity. The design arm of London-based advertising agency Mother has created work which includes a revived mermaid emblem, colour palette as well as branding and editorial guidelines. Michael Joseph was established in 1935 by the eponymous publisher and writer, who was known for balancing commercial interest with literary quality.
In July, Nissan revealed its first new logo in 20 years , which sought to connect the brand’s heritage with the “digital world” The updated identity coincided with the announcement of the car brand’s first all-electric crossover SUV, the Ariya. On the car, the redesigned flat logo is lit up with 20 LEDs which symbolised a “new chapter” of Nissan’s evolution, the car company said.
Dalziel & Pow has redesigned Twinings’ flagship store in an attempt to move the focus from a traditional retail store to a more experience-led journey, based on principles such as wellness and lifestyle. The store is based in London’s Strand thoroughfare and was opened by Thomas Twining in 1706. It is the capital’s oldest tea shop.
London-based design studio DutchScot has given restaurant Shanghai Me a new identity which centres on the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Located in Dubai, Shanghai Me is a Chinese restaurant which looks to transport diners back to the decadent Shanghai of the 1930s. DutchScot were approached for the project after having previously worked with the client on another restaurant.

James and Deirdre Dyson plan to open a public exhibition space in the grounds of their Cotswolds home, it has been revealed. The art gallery will be used to display the Dyson’s private art collection and will be named after the grounds on which the family live, Dodington Estate. Long-time architectural collaborator Wilkinson Eyre Architects is behind the design of the proposed space, which aims to be finished next year.
