How we function in our space depends on how it is designed to support us. Our life space has different activities that require different environments to support our body, mind, and soul (emotions). With this new pandemic, we find that our spaces need adjusting.

In my 35 years of being in the retail/design industries, I’ve never seen so much acrylic. Acrylic face shields, sneeze guards and space separators, on countertops, showcases and checkouts. Of course, they are important and necessary, but please think carefully before you swiftly click, “buy and ship”. What will these do to your brand and the look of your store?

On 10 May, Boris Johnson revealed details around an easing of lockdown after weeks of socially-distancing measures. There were graphs to show the possible easing steps, as well as a coloured scale which indicates the presence of coronavirus in the UK. There was also a new slogan. Instead of ‘Stay Home’, the government is now advising the country to ‘Stay Alert’ However, the communications campaign has been criticised over a lack of clarification, and on Monday Johnson had
Watching a store come to life is so exciting, and yesterday I got to tackle one of the most satisfying parts…putting up the logo sign for the brand new Trouts Fly Fishing store in Denver. When that logo goes up, you can suddenly feel how cool the whole space is going to be. This particular installation had a high penalty for failure. We designed the wall (which will be behind the cash wrap counter) with hot-rolled steel on it…ooh la la.

Living in the Covid era has made people wary of the importance of having a good solid presence online. And even though in many countries (like NL) the online market has already peaked, Mexico had been a little reluctant to trust online sellers and shop through the web. And even though having Amazon and Ebay since a few years back has made online shopping a reality, there is still the issue of sellers having to make the switch between physical sales and online.

We’ve all seen countless “best practice” lists that are designed to excite and motivate brands to reach new levels of success with their product promotions. While these lists are no doubt helpful, the fact is that up to 75% of brands are still left in the red at the end of their promotional campaigns. For many teams, that’s because no number of best practices will truly make a difference if you still have some of your worst practices in place.
