Guzman Y Guzman’s revenue soars 32 per cent

Guzman Y Guzman delivered revenue of $342.2 million in the last fiscal year, up 32.1 per cent, thanks to opening new restaurants. However, the fast-food operator’s statutory net loss widened to $13.7 million. This is the first time the Mexican fast food chain published financial results since its initial public offering on June 20. During the fiscal year, the company saw network sales of $959.7 million, an increase of 26.4 per cent.

Woolworths Group’s Australian food, B2B segments lead sales increase

Woolworths Group booked lower earnings despite higher sales in the last fiscal year. The supermarket chain’s net profit before significant items slid 0.6 per cent to $1.71 billion while net profit after significant items plummeted 93.3 per cent to $108 million. The group’s sales climbed 5.6 per cent to $67.92 billion. Its Australian food segment sales increased 5.6 per cent to $50.74 billion while Australian B2B sales rose 6.1 per cent to $4.59 billion.

Shopping centre industry alarmed by merger reforms

The draft reforms require mandatory notification to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) for all mergers and acquisitions valued at $35 million and above, including shopping centre transactions.
