Leading outdoor sportswear brand Helly Hansen has unveiled its new concept store at Chadstone Shopping Centre. The Norwegian brand – which is known for its sailing and ski apparel, workwear and outdoors wear – is stocked in high-end retailers, including David Jones and The Iconic, and has over 40 stores across the globe.

According to the studio, the boutique's layout incorporates the concept of a traditional garden corridor, guiding customers through the store as they navigate a path that unfolds around the central pavilion.

Both levels have an open-plan layout with circulation routes defined by shelving and clothes rails. Contrasting green tiles were used to frame the generous window openings revealed during the building's renovation, and to form integrated window seats. Books are displayed on the building's first floor and clothing on the second.

A glazed entrance provides a view into the store, where bright orange surfaces create a vibrant contrast with the shop's monochrome exterior. Say Architects designed each floor with a symmetrical layout that enhances the calm and serene atmosphere within the store.

That is why the materials in the interior match the colours of the view from the window – it lets the outdoor space penetrate into the room.". Both pieces were made especially for the shop and the bench is finished with a shaggy, cushioned seat that contrasts with the sleek, reflective plinths.
